our emotional theme park

pax has recently developed more of an attitude, but since daddy left he has gone into full-blown moody, pushy, rebellious three-year old boyness. for the most part he's happy and rambunctious, til i tell him to do something he doesn't want to do. oh then all hell breaks loose. i find myself trying new punishments or variations on our standard time-out, but today i finally resorted to a good old-fashioned butt whupping. james and i were trying to steer away from too much of that but he just needed it today. pax does have a violent streak as most boys do but it has gotten worse this week, last night he actually hit his sister. or pulled her hair, his story was a little garbled and she was screaming bloody murder. sigh. i guess it had to start eventually. when he is not happy or angry he is sad and misses daddy. he keeps asking when he is coming home or says he hears daddy downstairs. makes me sad to tell him again that daddy won't be home for a while.

we have been trying to keep busy with little projects and new stuff to do. the first little thing we did was a toddler sized science experiment: water, food-coloring, and oil. and some sparklies.
he has also created a couple new fingerpaint masterpieces. one he used his hands, but for the other i put paint in pans and then showed him how to paint using his monster trucks. the result is a cool monster truck tire track painting. i can't stand to throw it away, i think that one is a keeper. he has also been drawing treasure maps with sidewalk chalk, chasing tiki, playing in his pool, and lining up his trucks. and being a terror.

trinity is a snot bomb these last couple days. she is finally crawling, still pulling herself up on everything, and does not like to be fed. if she can't feed herself, she doesn't want to eat it. she likes being outside too. not talking yet, but she does make a sound like "i" or "hey!" and finds it funny when i say it back. the louder the better. she also says baba, but i don't think any of these count as words yet.

i have also been somewhat of an emotional roller coaster, but that is to be expected. i am trying to keep and make new, good habits and hopefully break some bad ones. like sitting on my arse in front of the computer is one very bad habit. forgetting to eat or eating too much is another bad one. i bought all healthy food that has to be prepared to be eaten for our meals since i don't like to cook while james is gone so i will be forced to feed us real food. also need to keep getting up early and exercise more.

so dad, mom, grandma, whoever is reading this, can you possibly make a gmail account so that you can sign in and leave comments? i kinda feel like i'm talking to space. also if you have gmail accounts, i can then make this an approval only blog so not everyone in the world can snoop and read. just a thought.

Day 1 of K Deployment

so today is officially day 1 of James's deployment to a place we will simply designate as K. i'm not that good at opsec, but i try.

this morning was rough, but we sucked it up and went to Jerra's house to play. came home at nap time, had dinner, then went for a walk around the block to the park. we took tiki with us; a new interesting experience. i just wrapped her leash around the stroller handle and my hand and she pulled the best she could with her muzzle halter on. she's starting to figure out how to pull forwards with her face pointed to her left. go figure, can't train the sled dog out of her. got to the park where we encountered a helicopter mom in full hover mode. her poor son, had to be a little older than pax, could not step a toe out of line. that boy could not play the way he wanted to like all the other kids were. i usually yell at pax a little bit, things like hey don't throw that! and don't push that kid off the slide! but today, i just kept my mouth shut to prove a point. that and i was mad at her, she wouldn't let all the kids at the playground near tiki cause "that dog has something around its mouth don't touch it" like my tiki was some sort of violent dog that would eat their faces off. then she pulled pax off the slide because he was trying to climb up it when her kid was trying to go down. i was like, woman don't make me kill you! but i suppose its  a natural reaction for helicopter moms to want to control all the other kids too, and as long as she didn't get mean with pax i let it go.

i have a goal to walk/run/whatever one mile a day (at least, more is good) while james is gone. today i did 1.4 miles. i also need to fix my diet and lose some weight and wake up early every morning and all kinds of stuff. go me. i usually go into kick-ass mode when james leaves. i am going to kick this deployment's butt!

love you honey!
